Repairing Tiles Without It Looking Like a Patch Job

Cracked, slipped or broken roof tiles are one of the most common issues we see after storms, but they can also happen gradually through general wear. At A Grade Roofs and Guttering, we carry out tile roof repairs across Brisbane, replacing and reseating individual tiles to match the surrounding roofline rather than patching over the problem. Matching tile profile and colour is part of getting a repair to actually blend in, not just seal the gap. Where the damage extends further than a repair can reasonably cover, our tile roof replacement service is the next step. Call (07) 3523 7110 to get a repair assessed.

Common Tile Repair Issues We Deal With

Tile repairs cover a range of issues, each needing a slightly different approach.

  • 01

    Cracked & broken tiles

Individual tiles are removed and replaced rather than sealed over, since a cracked tile will keep letting water through if it's left in place. Matching the replacement tile to the existing roof keeps the repair from standing out.

  • 02

    Slipped or dislodged tiles

Tiles that have moved out of position are reseated and secured properly, often after checking the battens underneath for damage. This is a common issue after strong wind or storms.

  • 03

    Ridge capping repairs

Cracked or loose pointing along the ridge is repaired to stop water tracking in along the roofline. This is one of the more overlooked causes of tile roof leaks.

  • 04

    Storm damage assessment

After significant weather events, we check the whole roof rather than just the obviously damaged tiles. Storm damage often affects more of the roof than what's visible from the ground.

03Questions

Questions we get asked

Yes, even one cracked or broken tile can let water through to the sarking and timber underneath, particularly during heavy or wind-driven rain. It's worth addressing on its own rather than waiting for more tiles to be affected.

In most cases yes, though it can depend on how old the existing tiles are and whether a close match in profile and colour is available. Where an exact match isn't possible, the closest available option is used.

A slipped tile is usually still intact but has moved out of its original position, sometimes leaving a visible gap. This is checked for separately from cracked tiles during an inspection since the fix is different.
